Achromatic Cylindrical Lens

Positive achromatic cylindrical lenses are composed of two cylindrical lens elements with different refractive indices and dispersion characteristics. This design effectively minimizes chromatic aberration and spherical aberration to a remarkable degree, enabling precise control to focus incident light into a linear beam. The double cemented structure further optimizes the overall optical performance of the lens.

Therefore, achromatic lenses deliver superior performance compared to single-piece monolithic lenses with the same diameter and focal length. They are ideally suited for broadband light sources, effectively suppressing chromatic aberration to a minimum. These lenses can generate highly concentrated linear beams and sharp, well-defined irregular images with low dispersion. Thanks to these outstanding features, achromatic cylindrical lenses are widely applied in laser beam shaping, laser projection and many other optical systems.

AOS Optics supplies a comprehensive range of cylindrical lenses, including plano-convex cylindrical lenses, plano-concave cylindrical lenses, and positive cemented achromatic cylindrical lenses.

We offer double-sided anti-reflection (AR) coating for all cylindrical lens components, which drastically reduces surface reflection and significantly improves optical transmittance.

Available coating spectra cover UV, VIS, NIR, SWIR, IR1 and IR2 bands.

Multiple optical glass substrate materials are optional to meet different application requirements:

H-K9L optical glass: ideal for visible and near-infrared applications.

Germanium, Silicon, Zinc Selenide and Calcium Fluoride: perfect for infrared optical systems.

Fused Silica: best suited for ultraviolet light applications.
