Meniscus Cylindrical Lens

Meniscus cylindrical lenses feature convex-concave cylindrical surfaces, which precisely focus incident light and stretch optical images into required dimensions. Available in both positive and negative focal length configurations, these precision optical lenses are ideal for laser line generation, anamorphic beam shaping and various industrial optical systems.

Cylindrical lenses feature unique cylindrical optical surfaces. Unlike spherical lenses that manipulate incident light symmetrically along two axes, cylindrical lenses shape light in only one direction. Typically used to converge or diverge parallel light beams into a linear focus and adjust the image aspect ratio, they are widely adopted for onedimensional light source shaping applications.

Two mainstream types are available: planoconvex and planoconcave cylindrical lenses, for beam convergence and divergence respectively. Planoconvex cylindrical lenses deliver positive focal length to focus incident light into a line, composed of one flat face and one convex cylindrical surface. Planoconcave cylindrical lenses feature negative focal length with one flat face and one concave cylindrical surface.

AOS Optics supplies a comprehensive range of highprecision cylindrical lenses, including planoconvex, planoconcave and positive cemented achromatic cylindrical lenses. We offer customizable doublesided antireflection (AR) coatings to minimize surface reflection and maximize optical transmittance, covering UV, VIS, NIR, SWIR, IR1 and IR2 wavebands. Multiple substrate materials are selectable: HK9L optical glass for visible and nearinfrared applications; germanium, silicon, zinc selenide and calcium fluoride for infrared systems; fused silica for ultraviolet optical applications.
