Plano Concave Cylindrical Lens

AOS Optics’ Plano-concave cylindrical lenses feature a flat surface and a cylindrical surface with a negative focal length, serving as key optical components for professional beam shaping. A typical application is adopting a dual cylindrical lens set to collimate and circularize the output beam of laser diodes. To reduce spherical aberration when diverging collimated beams into spots, the collimated light should be incident on the lens’s cylindrical surface.

AOS Optics’ Cylindrical Lenses are high-precision optical components with cylindrical surfaces, engineered exclusively for one-dimensional light source shaping—unlike spherical lenses, they act on incident light in a single direction rather than symmetrically in two. These specialized lenses are ideal for converging parallel or divergent beams into a line or adjusting image aspect ratios, with two core structures for targeted beam control: plano-convex cylindrical lenses feature a flat and convex cylindrical surface with a positive focal length for beam convergence, while plano-concave cylindrical lenses have a flat and concave cylindrical surface with a negative focal length for beam divergence.

We offer a comprehensive range of high-performance cylindrical lenses, including plano-convex, plano-concave and positive cemented achromatic cylindrical lenses, all customizable with double-sided anti-reflection coatings (UV, VIS, NIR, SWIR, IR1, IR2). These precision coatings drastically reduce surface reflection and enhance light transmittance, delivering optimal and stable optical performance for professional optical systems across diverse spectral applications.

We provide premium substrate materials tailored to specific band requirements: H-K9L optical glass for visible and near-infrared applications, germanium, silicon, zinc selenide and calcium fluoride for infrared use, and fused silica for ultraviolet scenarios. Versatile and reliable, our cylindrical lenses are indispensable optical components for laser systems, precision imaging equipment, optical measurement instruments and various industrial optical setups, ensuring precise beam shaping and consistent performance for high-precision optical applications.
