Material Overview

Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) is a core functional optoelectronic material for infrared optical systems. It delivers stable high transmittance across the near-infrared, mid-infrared and far-infrared bands, paired with favorable mechanical properties, making it an ideal choice for applications requiring both high optical performance and structural reliability.

 

CVD Multi-Spectral ZnS (ZnS MS) Properties

Our zinc sulfide is manufactured via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to yield high-purity multi-spectral grade material. It features excellent chemical inertness, water insolubility, moderate density and good machinability. With a broad spectral transmission range of 600 nm – 10 μm, it maintains consistent high transmittance across the full operating band.

 

Key Advantages vs. Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)

Like zinc selenide, ZnS boasts exceptional refractive index uniformity and batch-to-batch consistency, supporting high-fidelity imaging performance with low wavefront distortion, and delivers reliable transmittance in the mid-infrared spectrum.

Compared with ZnSe, zinc sulfide offers higher hardness, greater fracture strength and superior harsh-environment resistance, making it more durable for rugged outdoor, aerospace and industrial operating conditions.
